Admissions Policy
"Every person as a child of God, regardless of race, condition,
sex, national origin, age (in accordance with the law), and handicapping
condition has equal dignity and an inalienable right to an education.
Therefore, no qualified student will be denied admission to St.
Leo the Great School on the basis of sex, race, color or national
origin."
Required Admission Documents
We required the following completed documents for admission consideration:
- Application for Enrollment form: to be posted soon.
- Non-refundable $50 application fee
- A copy of your child's Baptismal certificate
- A copy of your child's Birth certificate
- Completed California School Immunization Record (download

Kindergarten Information
All students applying for Kindergarten are screened for readiness.
The results of the testing will aid in determining acceptance. Students
must be five years old by December 1. Parents of kinder applicants
should also submit a completed Kindergarten Questionnaire
(download PDF file).
Transfer and New Students
The academic record of all students wishing to transfer to St.
Leo the Great School are examined prior to admission. The student
record must show that they have been attending school regularly
and are in good academic standing. A basic skills test is administered
to determine current reading and math levels prior to admission.
The results of the testing will aid in determining acceptance. Any
student transferring from another Catholic school must be in good
standing at that school and all tuition and fees due to that school
must be paid before applying at St. Leo's. Any requirements for
special needs to assist the student's learning will be discussed
and reviewed to determine whether St. Leo the Great School has the
facilities and expertise to provide the needed special assistance.
All new students are accepted on a probationary basis for the first
semester after which their performance will be reviewed by the administration
and classroom teacher. on an individual basis.

Priority for Acceptance
Priority is given to children of registered members of St. Leo
the Great Parish and registered members of any other Catholic parish
in the Diocese of San Jose. Non-Catholics are accepted if the school
possesses capacity for additional students. Children are admitted
to St. Leo the Great School in the following order:
- Children of parish families currently enrolled in St. Leo the
Great School.
- Children of families who are members of a Catholic parish other
than St. Leo's and who have children currently in St. Leo the
Great School.
- Children of families who are not members of any other Catholic
parish and who currently have children enrolled in St. Leo the
Great School.
- Children of parish families whose children are not currently
enrolled in St. Leo the Great School.
- Children of families who are members of any other Catholic parish
and whose children are not currently enrolled in St. Leo the Great
School.
- Children of families who are not members of any other Catholic
parish and whose children are not currently enrolled in St. Leo
the Great School.
- Families who previously had children attending St. Leo the Great
School will be given higher priority.

Diocesan Tuition Assistance
This program allows families to apply directly to the Diocese of
San Jose for tuition assistance. Catholic families who live in the
Diocese of San Jose are eligible to apply. Forms for Student Aid
for 2005-2006 are available in the school office.
If you plan to apply for tuition assistance from the school, you
must first apply for assistance through this Diocesan program. You
will need the following to complete your application for assistance:
- Completed, signed form
- Copies of requested income tax records (see form for details)
- Check or money order in the amount $19, payable to Private
School Aid Service
