St.
Leo the Great School is one of the oldest in the San Jose
Diocese. Opening its doors in the early 1900s, the school
was first operated under the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
In 1925, the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
took over in conjunction with the parish. As the years passed
and the order declined, the school was eventually administered
by a lay faculty of teachers and specialists with full credentials.
